With so many carpet cleaning companies in Overland Park, Olathe, and Leawood Ks, how is a person to know which company to choose. A lot of times it might be based off of price only. Which company is the cheapest? Some people may choose a company because of a referral from a friend. Others may choose based on what the have experienced in the past. How do you choose the best service company for you and your family?

At Perfect One Clean we have come up with a mission statement and values to help build relationships with our clients so that finding the right carpet cleaning company doesn’t become a stressful task.

First we will start with our mission statement. Why is it important to find a carpet cleaning company that not only has a mission statement but stands by it? Have you ever tried to accomplish something or achieve something without knowing why you are doing it? It makes the task or goal you are trying to achieve a lot less important. It simply just becomes something to check off the list so you can say you did it.

That’s why we stress our mission statement at Perfect One Clean. Our Mission is: To deliver excellent service in every opportunity. When we hire a new staff member the first day of training is strictly covering our mission statement and how we fulfill it everyday with our clients. If we go into every day with our mission in mind then our clients will be satisfied.

We try to fulfill our mission with every aspect of our business all the way from how we hand out business cards at networking events to fixing mistakes we might have made on a job. That’s right even if we make a mistake there is still a way to fix it with excellent service.

This is what of one of our new clients recently said about a job we did for her in Gardner.

Amazing & Affordable!
“Perfect One did an amazing job! We did a whole house carpet cleaning for the selling of our home and they went above and beyond expectations. We had stains, pet odors, and repairs to be done. They were able to take care of all of those issues efficiently. Our carpets look new again!! We will definitely be using them again!”

Field Notes: Carpet Cleaning Overland Park Ks

Overland-park-carpet-cleaning Field Notes: Carpet Cleaning Overland Park Ks. Experience is a big deal at Perfect One Clean. As we provide carpet cleaning in Overland Park, ks Olathe, ks and the Kansas City metro area, we want each client of ours to have a great service experience each and every time they use us. I have  been in the carpet cleaning business for over 10 years now and I have heard a lot of horror stories. I am always surprised at how many carpet cleaning companies will take short cuts either out of laziness, bad training or just not caring. To us is doesn’t matter if you have a 1 bedroom apt in Olathe or a 6 bedroom house in Overland Park you will receive the same service from us. Taking field notes is always a great way to know that we are going the extra mile.

carpet-cleaning-technicians-overland-park-ks Our Mission is to deliver excellent service in every opportunity. From the time the client calls our office all the way to the follow up calls months later we want to give the best service. Recently we had a client in Overland Park ,Ks that didn’t have a great experience with the last carpet cleaning company that she used.

  • So she decided to give us a call to see if she could have a better experience. Here are a few field notes from the job and at the end a nice review that she left us.12-steps-carpet-cleaning-overland-parkFIELD NOTES:
  • Job Location- Overland Park, Ks
  • Job Description- Carpet Cleaning
  • Have they had their carpet professionally cleaned before- Yes
  • Approximate age of carpets- 5 years
  • How often are they cleaned- 1 time a year
  • Have they ever been treated with carpet protector- No
  • What do the use for spot treatment- Spot shot
  • Are there any areas that need special attention- Yes, primer was spilt on the carpet.

As we began the 12 step carpet cleaning process we noticed that there was a lot of soap residue as we were steam cleaning. Before we applied our pre-spray I asked my technician to make a couple of passed with the carpet cleaning wand to see if there was soap left on the carpet. overland-park-steam-cleaning-ks-field-notesSure enough there was. Knowing that I knew that we could not use a high ph pre-spray. If we did, it would just add more soap to the carpets which causes re-soiling quicker. If I had to guess this is why she was not happy with the last carpet cleaning company. So what was the solution? We used a pre-spray and a rinse that where on the acid side of the ph scale to rinse of all the residue but also leave her carpets soft and clean. Once we got the carpets to a neutral state we applied our carpet protector. With this application it will help the carpets stay cleaner longer, and will also protect it from permanent stains. After the protector was applied we began to speed dry the carpets with our specialized air movers. Putting air movers on the carpets is just an extra step we like to take for our clients.

“Good price, on-time, excellent work and friendly staff. The cleaner did two bedrooms, a hallway and stairs. The cleaner was careful in our home and pleasant. We will use Perfect One again.” Mark L. Overland Park, ks

Carpet stretching turned bad

By | Carpet Cleaning, Carpet Repair, Field Notes | No Comments

I love the fact at Perfect One Clean we not only offer carpet cleaning and steam cleaning services to our clients, but also carpet stretching and repairs. Yesterday we had a stretch and repair to do.

  • Difficulty of job on a scale of 1-10 a 6
  • Estimated time to do job 1.5 hours
  • Chances of getting injured 0
  • Did I get injured YES!

It never fails that when I think I’m at the point in my career that I don’t need to use the same precautions as when I first started I slice a finger. Carpet stretching and carpet repairs can be tricky sometimes because you have to make a lot of cuts and you can always catch your fingers on a tac strip or cut them like I do on the carpet knife. The blades are so sharp that you don’t even fill it until its to late.

The first part of this carpet stretching and repair job was a patch that the client tried to fix themselves. They had put a patch in as a circle, and it wasn’t seamed in at all it was just loose. It also didn’t have any carpet pad under it. So we started from scratch and cut four straight lines around the circle so we could hide the seams good. Cutting straight lined is key when you are trying to hide seams.

So I was able to make it through this with out any blood on the clients carpet. The patch was hardly noticeable and it will look even better after we steam clean her carpets.

The next carpet stretching repair on the carpet didn’t go as smooth. It was a challenging repair but nothing that I have not done before. The clients dogs kept scratching at the seam so the carpet was coming apart and you could see the seam tape. Not real appealing when you are trying to sell your home. I took my seam cutter right down the middle of the seam so I could disengage the carpet. After that I had to add carpet to the other side that was against the wall. This allowed me to clean up both sides of the seam and make a brand new one so you couldn’t see the seam line

This is where it got bloody. As I was making my  cut against my straight edge I noticed my thumb was hanging over. As the brand new blade quickly approached my thumb I thought to myself  “I should probably move my THUMB!” To late, “down goes Frazier” my heroic thumb got in the way of that super sharp blade and saved my life. Not really but it sounds better than I made a rookie mistake.

So after I gathered enough tissue to make it upstairs the home owner was kind enough to bandage me up long enough to get to the walk-in clinic. The upside was the walk-in clinic was only three minutes away. The Olathe, KS medical group that I went to did a fantastic job. Here is my review on the Olathe, KS walk in clinic.  Customer service 5 star, wait time short 5 star, treatment time short 5 star, overall experience 5 star.

After all that I was able to go back  and finish the job and also keep all my fingers. On top of that my customer was very pleased with our work.

Stretching our minds and your carpet in Overland Park

By | Carpet Cleaning, Field Notes | No Comments

IMG_1540Our mission is to deliver excellent service in every opportunity. One way we do that is by continuing our education. The carpet cleaning industry is constantly changing with new solutions and equipment, so if you do not stay informed your company and your technicians can get left behind. I am Jordan Owens the Operations Manager for Perfect One Clean. We provide carpet cleaning services for Overland Park, Olathe, and other surrounding areas in the Kansas City area. I recently attended the IICRC class for Carpet Repair and Re-installation. The class included hands on teaching of how to re-stretch existing carpet which we are starting to see more and more of.

There are many factors that can lead to your carpet buckling, such as poor installation, water damage and also general wear and tear among other things. I learned a lot of strategies on how to properly asses the problem and then the techniques used to solve them. Along with re-stretching a big portion of the class was focused on doing repairs such as re-seaming two sections of carpet. To properly re-stretch carpet, a lot of times the best solution is to bust a seam and stretch two rooms towards each other which requires you to know how to re-seam them. However one of the most valuable things I learned from the class is how to do a bonded insert, or a “patch”, the correct way.

These are used in situations where a small section of the existing carpet is beyond repair and the only solution is to cut out the damaged area and re-install a new piece of carpet in that area.

Honestly, this was my favorite technique I learned, because if done properly you can’t even tell where the bonded insert is. They give you a lot of time to try the techniques you learned and the proper tools during hands on training. Ever since coming on full time at Perfect One clean I have always enjoyed attending these classes and learning as much as possible about our industry. In the past few weeks since receiving my RRT certification I have already come across quite a few jobs from our clients where I was able to put my newly acquired skills to the test, and have had great success so far.

Above are a couple pictures of a re-stretch job I did in Overland Park, KS. The client wanted to put their house on the market and their Realtor recommended that they have the carpets cleaned and re-stretched. So on this particular job before we did any carpet cleaning we made sure to re-stretch the carpets first. There was one area on the carpet in the hallway were we had to break the seam, re-seam it then stretch it. The client was very happy with the end result.

Part of what our clients like is that along with carpet cleaning we are able to offer other services such as re-stretching and carpet repair. This keeps the client from having to make a bunch of phone calls and appointments.

Carpet Cleaning and Repair by Perfect One Clean in Leawood, Ks

By | Carpet Cleaning, Carpet Repair, Field Notes, Leawood | No Comments

We provide carpet cleaning services in Olathe, Overland Park, Shawnee, Lenexa, and Kansas City, Ks. Our services include carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, and hardwood floor cleaning. Some of our referral partners include restoration companies that need us to come in after disasters and steam clean the flooring that has been damaged. In these cases we also have to do repairs like new tac strip, repairing carpet and stretching back carpet. We got called to a house in Leawood,Ks that had water damage in the basement. After the restoration company dried out the basement we were called in to replace pad, tac strip, and stretch the carpet back. Once we got everything put back we steam cleaned the carpet. It wasn’t a big job but we still do our 12 step carpet cleaning system to provide the very best service.

Along with our steam cleaning services we are also able to provide these specialty service for our customers. In some water damage instances it is also necessary to steam clean the concrete floor. This usually has to occur if the water source came in from the outside, because of the contaminants in the water. It is very important to know not to skip any steps when restoring a property from a water damage loss. Over the years we have seen people that try to dry out their basement or restore the flooring themselves and this always results in more problems than what they began with. In some cases home owners do not have flood insurance and can not afford to have complete restoration done. So to this I advise to at least get the water extracted by a professional cleaning company with a truck mounted unit and discard any wet pad. If the customer can afford air movers and dehumidifiers for a couple of days even better. Bottom line is no matter how big or small the job do not skip the proper steps. Rules for removing pet stains and odors from your carpet

By | Carpet Cleaning, Carpet Repair, Field Notes, Leawood, Olathe, Overland Park | No Comments
Perfect One Clean has been in the carpet cleaning business now for over 10 years serving Olathe, Lenexa, Overland Park, Spring Hill, Shawnee and other surrounding cities in the Kansas City metro area. The majority of the calls we receive are due to pet urine stains and odor. The process of removing pet stains and odors can be very tricky due to all the products that our available to home owners. The majority of these products for removing pet odors simply makes the urine odor worse. In other words these store bought carpet cleaning products are a carpet cleaners nightmare. Most pet owners, when they see their pet has had an accident on the carpet, will run to the cabinet and grab a bottle of carpet stain remover and blast away on the pet stain. If this process continues over and over in one room, the urine odor can become very
strong.

olathe-pee-carpet-clean

At this point it no longer is a carpet cleaning job, but a restoration job. Steam cleaning carpets that have severe pet damage can make the odor worse if you do not address the urine issue first. We recently had a pet urine call from Overland Park, Kansas where the homeowner had been putting an enzyme on the pet stains every time his pet had an accident. The smell was so bad that he went and rented a Rug Doctor thinking that would help, but all it did was make it worse. Finally, he called us and we were able to salvage the carpet which was only a year old.
When a pet stain is fresh, its ph level is about a 5 or a 6 this is the time to address the issue. If the pet stain sits for to long its ph level can go from a 5 or 6 to “alkaline”  10 to 12 on the ph scale. Once it reaches this level it becomes more difficult to remove. If left for days or longer pet urine begins to change the dye structure of the carpet making the stain permanent.
The salts and crystals left behind as the urine dries draw moisture to them. So in the summer months when the humidity is high the salts attract the moisture in the air. This can cause the odor to become worse as the ammonia gas is released as the moisture evaporates.
Here are some Do-it-yourself tips from Jordan Owens, Perfect One Cleans Operations Manager and IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) certified technician.
WET PET URINE
1. Use a Shop Vac or any home spotting tool and extract as much of the wet urine out of the carpet as you can.

3. Use a bottle of Perfect One Clean Home Pro Spotter, apply enough to cover the urine spot. Let this sit for 10 minutes.
4. Pour one cup of warm water on the spot.
5. Extract with your shop vac or wet vac. Try to get the carpet as dry as possible.
